Exciting news from Mrs. Morrow's first-grade class! Our young explorers have just wrapped up their CKLA habitat unit, where they dived deep into the wonders of the natural world. Each child chose their favorite habitat, using oil pastels to create vibrant drawings and playdoh to sculpt the animals that call these places home. From the Arctic tundra to the tropical rainforest, these hands-on activities helped our students understand the complex interdependence of living things and their environments. In just 15 days, they explored key concepts such as adaptation, food chains, and the importance of protecting our fragile ecosystems. With this foundational knowledge, they're all set to build a deeper understanding of the world's incredible biodiversity in future grades. Great job, first graders!

As Term 3 came to an end, our teachers selected one students from each class to be our Kind Kid of the Quarter. "Being Needed" has been our focus during Term 3. Each term. Principal Youd introduces the attribute for the quarter during the "Principal’s Read Aloud" and then students spend the entire term strengthening that attribute. Students nominated for the quarterly award receive a certificate, a swag bag with Sage Creek items, and a surprise yard sign at their house! New Kind Kids of the Quarter will be selected each term.

On Friday, our 1st graders at Sage Creek wrapped up their History of the Earth unit with a hands-on adventure! They transformed into paleontologists, carefully "excavating fossils" (m&ms and chocolate chips) from cookies. Then, they donned their geologist hats to break open geodes and discover the beautiful crystals inside. Such an exciting way to learn about Earth's history and have fun while doing it!
